Retailers Group Overview

Use the Retailers group to manage access to offers created for verified resellers on Gamefound.

The Retailers group is a system group. It includes verified resellers who can access retailer-specific products or pledges. If your project includes retailer pledges, we recommend limiting their visibility to this group.

This helps make sure that only verified resellers can see retailer offers.

What the Retailers group is

The Retailers group is a system group for verified resellers on Gamefound.

It works as a regular user group. This means that you can use it to control who can see selected pledges and manage discounts.

If a product or pledge is available only to retailers, limit its visibility to the Retailers group. Users who don’t belong to this group won’t see retailer-specific offers.

When to use the Retailers group

Use the Retailers group when your project includes offers created for retailers or resellers.

For example, you can use it when you want to offer retailer-specific products or pledges that shouldn’t be visible to all backers.

The group is especially useful when retailer offers are different from regular backer offers.

What retailer products can include

Products for retailers may include retailer-specific options, such as:

  • volume discounts
  • special payment options
  • other retailer-specific features

These options help you handle reseller orders separately from standard backer orders.

How to use the Retailers group

You can use the Retailers group in two ways, depending on how you want to manage retailer-only offers.

Use the Retailers group with a product group to manage several retailer-specific products or pledges together. When you configure the product group, limit its visibility to the Retailers group, and then add retailer-specific items to that product group.

Use the Retailers group in a single product’s visibility settings when only one product or pledge should be available to retailers. Open the product settings, go to the visibility settings, and select the Retailers group as the group that can see the product.

Users who don’t belong to the Retailers group won’t see products or pledges limited to this group.

You can still view the Retailers group on the User groups page. To find it, open your project dashboard, go to Users, and select User groups. The group appears there when the retailer feature is available for your project.

How the Retailers group appears on the User groups page

The User groups page may include several system and custom groups.

System groups can include:

  • Default: the main system group for all users. Products are visible to this group by default, unless excluded.
  • Retailers: the system group for verified resellers on Gamefound.
  • Secret group: the system secret group. Users can join it by opening a project secret link.

When the Retailers group is available, it appears with the other system groups on the User groups page.

How the Retailers group works with updates

The Retailers group isn’t available when you select recipient groups for project updates.

This means that you can use the group to control product or pledge visibility, but not to send updates only to retailers.

Retailers group visibility and discounts

The Retailers group works like a regular user group. You can use it to control who can see selected products, pledges, or product groups.

Use the Retailers group when you want to make an offer available only to verified resellers. You can limit visibility for:

  • a single product or pledge
  • a product group that includes several retailer-specific items

You can also use the Retailers group to manage discounts for verified resellers.

Users who don’t belong to the Retailers group won’t see offers limited to this group and won’t receive discounts assigned only to this group.

Good to know

The Retailers group is a system group, so it isn’t a regular custom user group.

If a user can’t see a retailer-specific product or pledge, check whether its visibility is limited to the correct group. The user may need to belong to the Retailers group to access the offer.
