Transfering an Order
This article is for backers who need an order moved to a different email address and creators who manage that transfer.
Order transfer moves one order from one user account to another within the same project.

For backers
If your order is under the wrong email address, the project creator can transfer it for you. Backers cannot start the transfer themselves.
To request a transfer:
- Contact the project creator.
- Share the email address that currently holds the order.
- Share the email address that should receive the order.
- Wait for the transfer confirmation.
- Sign in to the recipient account and open Your pledge.
If the recipient's email doesn’t have an account yet, the system creates one and sends a welcome email. Finish the account setup from that email, then sign in.
After the transfer:
- the order appears in the recipient account
- the order no longer appears in the original account
- order details, discounts, payment details, order status, and order history move with the order
- pending actions, such as finishing a payment, also move with the order
- the original email address receives a transfer email with the order details
Caution: Order transfer moves personal data, including shipping details and order history. If you didn’t request this change, contact the project creator or support right away.
For creators
Before you start:
- You can transfer only one order at a time.
- You can transfer an order only within the same project.
- This option is available after crowdfunding ends.
- This option is available only to owners who can manage orders.
- You may not see this option in every project.
- You can’t transfer test orders, unfinished orders, carts, or creator edit copies.
- If the recipient account already has another active order in the same project, the transfer can be blocked.
- Any unsubmitted cart changes in the recipient account are removed during the transfer.
- User groups do not move with the order.
To transfer an order:
- In Admin, go to Orders > Order list.
- Open the order details you want to transfer.
- Open the three-dot menu and select Transfer to another account.
- In Recipient email, enter the email address that should receive the order.
- Select Continue.
- Review the order details and warning message.
- Select the confirmation checkbox.
- Select Transfer.
- When the success message appears, select Close.
After the transfer:
- the order moves to the recipient account
- the original account no longer shows that order
- the original email address receives a transfer email
- if the recipient email is new, the user receives a welcome email and can finish account setup
- pending actions move with the order
- the backer badge and backer number move with the order when applicable
- user groups do not move with the order
If the original account was in a user group, add the recipient account to that group manually.
Why a transfer may not work
A transfer can fail when:
- the order is not eligible for transfer
- the email address is invalid
- the recipient account already has another active order in the same project
If the system blocks the transfer, review the email address and check whether the recipient already has an active order in this project.
