GPSR

Provide the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) information required for your project and products. Gamefound displays this information on the project page and in product details so backers can review the relevant legal and contact details, information about the entity responsible for placing the product on the EU market, product identification, and safety information.

What GPSR is

The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) sets general safety rules for consumer products that businesses offer in the European Union, both online and offline. It generally covers new, used, repaired, and reconditioned products. It also complements product-specific EU safety rules when those rules do not cover a particular risk.

GPSR applies to businesses that manufacture, import, distribute, or sell consumer products in the EU. This includes businesses outside the EU that offer products to EU customers. A responsible economic operator based in the EU must handle specific safety tasks for each covered product.

Under GPSR, businesses must:

  • Assess product risks and offer only safe products.
  • Provide the required legal and contact details and enough information to identify the product. In Gamefound, Product ID(s) and Safety notes are optional fields that creators can complete when relevant.
  • Take corrective action when a product proves unsafe, including reporting the issue and arranging a recall when necessary.

Before you start

Prepare the legal and contact details required for your project. This includes the name and address of the relevant business or individual and a public email address dedicated to GPSR inquiries.

If you plan to sell products in the EU, you must provide the name, EU address, and email address of the person or business responsible for placing the products on the EU market. If you do not know these details yet, select the option to add them later in Legal compliance.

If you cannot edit legal compliance information, ask an authorized person to provide the required information.

Add required GPSR information

Required GPSR information applies to the entire project. Complete the GPSR declaration and provide the required legal and contact details.

Accept the GPSR declaration

Where to add it: Complete the declaration in General setup when you create a project. For an existing draft, go to Project settings > Legal compliance.

Accept the GPSR declaration for every project on Gamefound, even if you do not plan to sell products in the EU. You must complete this step before you can publish the project draft.

This requirement applies to Crowdfunding, Late Pledge, Pledge Manager, Store, and external projects.

When you create a project:

  1. Complete General setup.
  2. Review the GPSR declaration.
  3. Select the checkbox to accept it.
  4. Continue creating the project.

For an existing draft:

  1. Open Project settings and select Legal compliance.
  2. Accept the GPSR declaration.
  3. Select SAVE.

After you accept the declaration, Gamefound displays it as read-only.

Where to add it: Open Project settings and select Legal compliance. Store and external Late Pledge or Pledge Manager projects may also request this information during setup.

Complete the legal information when Gamefound makes the fields available. For a crowdfunding draft, the fields appear after publication. Store and external Late Pledge or Pledge Manager projects may require the information during setup. After you create the project, manage it in Legal compliance.

To add the required information:

  1. Open Project settings and select Legal compliance.
  2. Review the prefilled legal and contact details. Make sure they identify the creator or business commissioning the product, not the production factory.
  3. Confirm whether you plan to sell the products in the EU.
  4. If you plan to sell the products in the EU, choose one of the following options:
    • Provide the name, EU address, and email address of the person or business responsible for placing the products on the EU market.
    • If you do not know these details yet, select the option to add them later.
  5. Enter the Regulatory contact email.
  6. Select SAVE.

Note: The regulatory contact email is public. Use an email address dedicated only to GPSR and product-safety inquiries.

Provide the required legal and contact details even if you do not plan to sell products in the EU. You can update the legal compliance information at any time.

Add additional GPSR information to a product

Product ID(s) and Safety notes provide additional information about an individual product. These fields are optional in Gamefound. Complete them when they apply to the product.

Where to add it: Open Products, select a reward or add-on, and go to Description > GPSR REGULATION.

To add product information:

  1. Open Products and select a reward or add-on.
  2. Open Description.
  3. Go to the GPSR REGULATION section.
  4. Review the read-only legal and contact details. Gamefound copies these details from Legal compliance, including the EU Responsible Person information when applicable.
  5. Enter Product ID(s), such as a product number, if available.
  6. Enter Safety notes, such as age restrictions, choking-hazard warnings, or handling instructions, if applicable.
  7. Select SAVE.

Gamefound displays Product ID(s) and Safety notes only when you provide them. Add translations for language-dependent safety information when necessary.

Review the public GPSR information

Gamefound displays GPSR information in two public areas:

  • Project page: A GPSR declaration appears at the bottom of the page near the creator’s legal information.
  • Product details: The product details view shows the required legal and contact details, including the public regulatory contact email and, when applicable, information about the responsible entity in the EU. It also shows Product ID(s) and Safety notes when provided.

The product details view also tells backers to contact the creator about product-safety matters. Review the public information after you save your changes.

Contact Gamefound about GPSR

Go to Contact and select Platform-related. Then choose the option that matches the request:

  • Product safety issues for questions or concerns from Gamefound users.
  • Product safety authority inquiries for supervisory authorities and administrative bodies.
