How to Use Text Editor
The Gamefound text editor lets you create and edit content on your project page. As a creator, you can format text, add links, images, videos and downloadable files, and arrange content in columns. To open the editor, go to Page content > Content in your project dashboard. The available tools depend on the field you edit.
Note: This article covers the new text editor. If you published your project before 30th of September 2026, your project uses the previous editor unless you switch to the new one. For instructions, see Switch to the new editor.

Open the editor
You can edit your project page content from your project dashboard. Choose the project phase and language to work on the version you want to update.
To edit the content of your project page:
- Open your project dashboard and go to Page content > Content.
- Select the project phase and language you want to edit.
- Find the section you want to update. Click inside the content area below Section header to edit its text.
The new editor must be available for your project. If your project still uses the previous editor, the controls differ from those described here.
Switch to the new editor
New and unpublished projects use the new text editor by default. If your project uses the previous editor, contact your project’s account manager to request a switch.
Note: Switching to the new editor is permanent. You can’t switch back to the previous editor.
Your published content stays unchanged when you switch editors. The new editor converts existing content to the new format when you edit and save it.
When you update existing content:
- Before you save: Review the formatting in the editor.
- After you save: Check how the content looks on your project page.
Format text
Use the text editor to emphasize key information and organize your project content with headings, lists and quotes. Select the text you want to format, then choose an option from the main toolbar or the floating toolbar that appears when you select text.
Table 1. Text formatting options
| To do this | Use this option |
|---|---|
| Emphasize text | Bold, italic, underline or strikethrough, where available. |
| Structure your content | The text style menu: Text, Title, Subtitle, Caption or Quote. |
| Create a list | Bulleted list or numbered list. |
| Remove text formatting | Clear formatting. This also removes links from the selected text. |
Use headings to organize your content into sections and subsections. Follow this order in the text style menu:
- Title (H2) for main sections.
- Subtitle (H3) for subsections within a main section.
- Caption (H4) for subsections within an H3 section.
Note: The Caption text style creates a heading. To add text below an image or video, use the Caption field in Add media.
Add and edit links
Use links to direct readers to related pages or resources. Choose descriptive link text that explains where the link leads.
To edit an existing link, click it. To remove it, select Remove in the link controls.
External links open in a new tab. Internal links open in the same tab.
Add images and videos
Use the text editor to add images and videos to your project content. In the Add media window, you can upload a file from your device, add a caption, and provide alt text for an image.
To add an image or video:
- Place the cursor in an empty paragraph where you want the media.
- Select +, then select the media icon to open Add media. You can also use the media icon in the main toolbar.
- Select a file from your device or drag it into the upload area.
- For an image, add Alt text that describes its content or purpose.
- Complete the optional fields you need, then select Add media.
- Select Save to save your content changes.
Use the fields in Add media to describe your image, add a caption, link an image to another page, or adjust the spacing around your media.
Table 2. Media fields and options
| Field or option | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Alt text | Describe the image for people who use screen readers. If the image acts as a link, explain its destination or purpose. |
| Caption | Add optional text that appears below the image or video. |
| Link URL | Add an optional destination to make an image clickable. External links open in a new tab. Local links that start with / open in the same tab. |
| Remove top & bottom spacing (stack media seamlessly) | Select this option to remove the media’s top and bottom spacing, for example when you want to stack images without gaps. |
Note: Drag files into the Add media upload area. Dropping a file directly into the editor content doesn’t upload it.
Supported media files
The text editor supports image uploads up to 20 MB and video uploads up to 200 MB. Before you upload a file, check that its format and size match the requirements below.
Table 3. Supported media formats and file size limits
| Media | Supported formats | Maximum file size |
|---|---|---|
| Image | JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP | 20 MB |
| Video | MP4, WEBM | 200 MB |
Embed a video from another service
You can embed videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion or Twitch in your project content. Use the embed option to add a video by its URL.
Note: The editor doesn’t support video embeds from other services.
Add downloadable files
Use attachments to share files that readers can download from your project content. Upload a file with the attachment option, and the editor adds a download link to your content.
Arrange content in columns
Use columns to display content side by side on your project page. Choose from five layouts with two or three columns to organize your content.
Note: You can’t embed videos from external services or add another column layout inside a column. The available tools depend on the field you edit.
Move and delete blocks
The text editor organizes your content into blocks, such as paragraphs, images, and lists. You can move blocks to change the order of your content, add new content below a block, or delete blocks you no longer need.
Table 4. Block actions
| Action | How to do it |
|---|---|
| Move a block | Drag the block to a new position, or use Move up or Move down in its block menu. |
| Insert below a block | Use Add below in the block menu. |
| Delete a block | Use Delete in the block menu. |
Use the block controls inside the editor. The menu for an entire page section is separate from the block menu.
Save and check your changes
Save your content changes, then check how they appear on your project page. When you edit content, the bar at the bottom of the page shows You have unsaved changes.
To save and review your changes:
- Review your text, links, media and layout in the editor.
- Select Save in the bottom bar.
- Open the project page and check the affected section. Confirm that images, videos, links and spacing look correct.
The editor uses a content width close to the width on the project page. This helps you assess the layout while you edit. The new editor doesn’t change the width of the public page content.
Edit content from the previous editor
Enabling the new editor doesn’t change your published content by itself. When you save older content through the new editor, it converts that content to the new format.
Formatting can change during conversion. Review older content carefully before you save it, then check the result on the project page. Correct any changes to spacing, images or text layout.
Note: Switching a project to the new editor is permanent. You can’t switch the project back to the previous editor.
FAQ
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Why do some fields have fewer tools? | Each field has a set of tools for the content it supports. A field with basic text formatting doesn’t necessarily support images, videos or columns. |
| Why does dropping an image into the editor do nothing? | Open Add media first, then drop the file into its upload area. |
| Why does my old content look different after saving? | Saving older content through the new editor converts its formatting. Check the affected section and adjust its layout if needed. |
